TWENTY-ONE individuals, including a Japanese and a Russian national, were arrested in a police raid on two premises in Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya yesterday evening, suspected of operating a prostitution ring.
The raid, dubbed "Op Noda," was conducted at 6:30 PM by a team from the D7 Vice, Gaming, and Secret Societies Division of Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on a hotel and an apartment. This operation followed a tip-off from the public.
Acting Bukit Aman CID Chief, Datuk Fadil Marsus, stated that the raid led to the apprehension of 21 individuals, including three Malaysian citizens.
“Initial investigations revealed that a 44-year-old local man acted as the pimp for 20 women suspected of offering prostitution services,” Fadil said.
He elaborated, “The women comprised two local women aged 26 and 37, eight Chinese nationals, three Mongolian nationals, three Uzbek nationals, and one each from Japan, Russia, Vietnam, and Laos.”
Fadil explained the syndicate’s modus operandi: “This prostitution syndicate offered sex services through a website displaying pictures of scantily clad women.”
He added that the website also detailed packages and prices for each service.
“Prices offered ranged from RM400 to RM1,000 per service, with payments made directly to the prostitutes,” Fadil confirmed.
He further noted, “The syndicate used hotel rooms on different floors for their sex activities and rented apartment units to evade detection by authorities.”
According to Fadil, customers seeking sex services would make bookings via a phone number displayed on the website, and upon arrival at the location, they would be provided with the specific room number.
During the operation, police confiscated 59 condoms, 21 bath towels, 21 mobile phones, 16 access cards, and RM4,470 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from the illegal activities.
Sixteen foreign women have been remanded for 14 days under the Immigration Act until July 30. Two local women, along with the Laotian and Vietnamese women, were remanded for one day. The local male pimp was remanded for three days.
The case is being investigated under Section 372B of the Penal Code, Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/63, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations. - July 19, 2025
