In the next 15th General Election (GE15), which will be held on November 19th, it is anticipated that BARISAN Nasional (BN) will reclaim the throne and form the government.
After 60 years of reign, BN suffered its first setback when Pakatan Harapan (PH) was able to create a government by winning two-thirds of the parliamentary seats in GE14, which was unexpected as projected.
However, due to the "event" of party switching, PH was only in power for 22 months when Perikatan Nasional, a new alliance that brought together numerous significant parties like Umno, Bersatu, and PAS, was created.
However, the Perikatan Nasional coalition's frailty did not survive for very long, as evidenced by the verbal sparring and switching of the governorships between the constituent parties.
The authority to choose a more stable government in this general election has finally been returned to the people with the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob of the dissolution of Parliament.
According to Majoriti.com, Dr. Mohammad Tawfik Yaakub, a political analyst, believes that although it is still too early to say which party would be able to form the government, BN is regarded to be able to win the general election this time around based on recent political developments and field studies.
"I can see that BN can lead PH in terms of seats, but to build a powerful and dominant administration, they should collaborate with the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
"Three things contributed to BN's victory: first, the extended period of political unpredictability endured by the electorate; second, an examination of every administrative achievement of the incumbent administration.
The third reason, which has been demonstrated by BN with the previous administration for 60 years, is that voters will tend to select a coalition that can foster political peace in order to construct the stability of the government.
