In response to a call by the Deputy Prime Minister to introduce a specific law to allow any government to complete its full five-year term, Dr Mahathir said a "bad government" that will be in power for five years would lead the country down an irreversible path of damage and destroy the country if the said government for example is led by a criminal who openly steals government money and abuses power and corruption becomes so common that all dealings with the government take a long time and depend on bribes given.
He said if democracy worked well, the ruling party could itself topple leaders who were criminals and liars and replaced him with an upright and law-abiding leader chosen to replace the destructive leader or the MPs can stop supporting the leader.
Dr Mahathir, where have you been for the last 30 years?
Corruption becomes so common starting from your 1st stint as the Prime Minister that it is common knowledge that majority of the dealings by the ordinary rakyat with the government take a long time and depend on bribes given.
Typical of your style, you will definitely say no such things happened during your time as the Prime Minister and if any, to show you proof of such things happening.
But the reality is that it has been happening and in fact became so widespread that it permeates every aspect of our daily lives for the last 30 years with no signs of such acts being frowned and shunned by both sides.
Report it to the authorities?
The ordinary rakyat will ask you – to whom they can report such matters to?
Even if they were to report to the relevant authorities, were any actions taken?
We are not talking about those hundreds of millions of Ringgit type of projects but things that affects the lives of the ordinary rakyat like the application of trading licences or permits for renovating houses.
It has become a standard joke amongst the ordinary rakyat that it is cheaper to operate a stall without permit and pay the fines for non compliance than to pay and then wait for the licences or permits which might not be approved.
All these occurred regularly and on a daily basis.
Even though the ordinary rakyat complained, they just go about and accept it as part and parcel of their daily lives. They knew very well that nothing will change even if they complained.
The ordinary rakyat just adapts and accepts that cash is king when dealing with the government long before PM6 told you this term.
Only you feigned surprise and sounded alarming when PM6 told you.
When you led the calls and charge to `remove’ all your chosen and approved successors, from the 5th PM to PM6, you started the rot and led the country down an irreversible path of damage.
The 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th PM were `foisted' on the ordinary rakyat by you.
Obviously, the ordinary rakyat would not be able to provide you with `proof’ of your tacit approval if challenged.
What are you smoking when you said if democracy worked well, the members in the political parties can topple leaders who were criminals and liars and replaced him with an upright and law-abiding leader chosen to replace the destructive leader or the MPs can stop supporting the leader?
As it is now, none of the members in all the political parties have shown any capability or have the will to remove and replace their ineffective leaders.
And all the political parties have learnt well from you on how to stop the members from replacing their leaders.
By simply introducing new rules such as the challenger must receive a minimum number of nominations first before they can be accepted as a challenger to simply getting the members to pass resolutions supporting a no contest amongst the top leadership to postponing the Annual General meetings of the party.
Leaders who are criminals?
If they are criminals, why aren’t they investigated and arrested by law enforcement in this country?
Is it because the leaders themselves `blocked’ all investigations by law enforcement as what you apparently and allegedly did to those in your political circles during your term as the Prime Minister?
While the whole world was investigating, arresting and jailing those who were involved in the 1MDB scam, the whole of UMNO was defending their leader.
Even until now, they are still those in UMNO that are defending him and insisting on his innocence.
It was the will of the ordinary rakyat that removed him from the leadership of the country.
Not the members of the political party.
Since your appointment as the Prime Minister of this country in 1981, the country has been ruled by a bad government.
Many of those in the present government and in the opposition started off their political careers under your wings when you were the Prime Minister from 1981 to 2003.
All of them obviously have learnt well under your leadership and tutelage.
All those who succeeded you as Prime Minister including your 2nd stint as the Prime Minister continued with your greatest legacy – dividing and taking the country further down an irreversible path of damage.
And now you are worried that if a law is introduced to allow any government to complete its full five-year term, the government, if bad, would ruin the country when it has been ruined by you and all those who succeeded you for the last 30+ years?
If the country were to perform worse in the future, you are the principal cause of it.
You started the process and you trained and tutor all those who succeeded you to perform worse than you.
