Dear MUDA, Today, I was just thinking about you; I wanted to learn more about the party that wanted to be the “voice of the people”. Excitedly, I searched away, hoping that I would discover more about the party of youthful energy, but all I found were three things: bygone news, repetitive problems, and a decaying mission.

When I searched for news online, all I found were old articles. Amongst the plethora of phrases I read, a few caught my eye, such as “difficult future”, “poor outing”, and “third force”. In addition to this, many of these articles seem to be quite outdated, but perhaps that is for good reason. Whatever happened to the outspoken nature of MUDA and its call to action? As “realistic” as MUDA claims to be during the state polls, forming a single seat “third bloc” seems to be a bit delusional. It is laughable to see a single seat party proclaim itself as an entirely new bloc. Sailors aren’t made by sitting on the shore, but rather through sailing through difficult waters. If Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional were able to do it, why can’t MUDA set aside their differences for the sake of progress and unity? Sure, you may bring up corruption, but what can you do about it now, MUDA? How do you expect to fare in the polls other parties, who despite their many problems, have shown their ability to contribute to the nation?

Personally, I find it quite ironic how the party seems to have fallen into obscurity without its former leader despite its stance against identity politics. The worst part is that you seem to not be doing anything about it! What happened to your news page? All I saw was an abandoned page accommodating a sparse selection of months-old articles. Why not spend more time on updating the people rather than filling up your your social media with irrelevant posts? From time to time, whenever an unaffiliated company writes news about MUDA, I only see problems. People unhappy with the party leadership, MUDA losing popularity, delayed party elections… Before you start hurling terms like “lapdogs” at other parties, why not solve your own problems first? MUDA does have its fair share of scandals too, so why the need to insult other parties?

If you asked me a few years ago, I’d say that MUDA was a heroic movement that was created from a burning desire of the people to fight against a broken system. Fast forward it to now, I would have no idea of what I would say; MUDA has lost almost all of its original charm. MUDA’s purpose seems to just be a parrot that accuses other parties without taking proper action whilst it slowly fades away to the pages of Malaysian history’s failed parties. Do you know what the worst part about this is? I wanted to see MUDA succeed and I believed in the cause. The same goes to those around me, despite their age, race, or religion. Even through their differing political views, I had seen that many were optimistic about MUDA’s introduction into the political scene, but alas, what do we have today?

Come on, MUDA, Please do something, you still have a chance to be the voice of the people.

With hopes,

With dreams,
