In a speech at the BN Convention and 48th Anniversary, 1 June 2022, amongst other things, the BN Chairman states, reproduced ad verbatim herein, the following,
The people are blase over political hypocrisy that led to instability when they were sucked further into life predicament as compared to those in other countries.
Post Sabah Elections, Sabah BN reportedly said it is supporting GRS, a coalition which the Sabah BN Information Chief reportedly said before the election on 14 Aug 2025 entangled in issues of corruption, governance problems and all sorts of lies.
The BN Chairman reportedly said on 1 Dec 2025,that parties which backed GRS were told to submit a list of candidates and BN has accordingly, submitted a list of candidates for consideration as ministers and assistant ministers in Sabah’s new Cabinet,
On the night when the elections results came in and GRS emerged with the most number of seats, UPKO, STAR, KDM immediately issued official statements declaring their open support for GRS chairman Hajiji to lead the formation of the state government.
BN declared their support 1 day later only after the swearing in of the GRS Chairman as Chief Minister and that was also through a Facebook post by the UMNO Sec Gen who wrote `Barisan Nasional has decided to support and 'jointly form' the new state administration.
Wow, what a dramatic change in principles!
Before the election, GRS is corrupted and lied.
After the election, BN and UMNO have no issues cohorting with those politicians they called corrupted and lied.
BN and UMNO is now comfortable and willing to work the liars and corrupted politicians in GRS.
The door to the possibility of cooperating with GRS was shut down not only by the Sabah BN Information Chief in Aug 2025.
Twice thereafter, it was the turn of the BN Chairman who shut the door to a cooperation with GRS.
Frist was on 5 Sept 2025, where the BN chairman at a press conference reportedly reaffirmed that Sabah BN and UMNO will not collaborate with GRS.
Then, weeks later on 24 Sept 2025, BN chairman again reportedly said at the IKONDESA launching ceremony that BN is ready to work with any party ahead of the 17th Sabah state election, except with GRS.
The BN Chairman also went on to say that GRS is confident they can win a lot, so they don't need BN.
Even Sabah UMNO Information Chief chipped in on 16 Nov 2025 when he reportedly said claims that only local parties are best for Sabah carry little weight if the government formed after the 17th state election lacks strong leadership.
With principles thrown down the drain, how and when does BN and UMNO expects to reform?
Or they were just paying lip service to calls for reform and never planned to reform at all?
If GRS were to co-opt and appoint members of UMNO to the Cabinet, they are also no different from BN and UMNO, both equally unprincipled.
In July 2025, at a Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) annual general convention before the dissolution of the state assembly and where BN and UMNO were in the Opposition, the then Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor reportedly was quoted to have said that many of the issues raised by the opposition ahead of the 17th State Election are deliberately fabricated to mislead the people.
And the newly appointed Chief Minister now deem it fit to appoint those from the parties that he said deliberately fabricated issues to mislead the people?
It looks like after an election, anything is possible.
