What more do people want? Every day, our eyes are greeted with reports of people or politicians expressing their dissatisfaction with the current ruling party or with one another. Everyone is blaming one another while very little is done to address other issues plaguing our society and economy. Recently, there was a news report on this app talking about Anwar's past. I get the feeling that this person or some people are trying to arouse bitter sentiments in the Rakyat. People just never get tired of pointing fingers at one another, huh? Sigh, apa lagi Rakyat mau? It seems that Rakyats are never satisfied with everything. But for now, I won't be talking about our current Prime minister. Guys, just let the man do his job. Others get to serve full term, why is this man not given the credibility to do so?
Here, I will list down the issues that Rakyats want the higher-ups/government to address:
No.1 Address the issue of stateless children in Malaysia
It is without a doubt that many children don't have ICs or essential documents that will help them get into schools, enter universities, and earn a decent living. These children may be from broken families; born out of wedlock, from parents where one of them is a non-Malaysian, or the parents passed away before they can register their children's birth. Any of these problems can put children in limbo and you know how people always say that our nation's children are the leaders of tomorrow? Well, if no one is going to take proactive measures to address these issues, then I don't see how Malaysia is going to have any future leaders because everyone gets old and we definitely can't rely on the old politicians to lead our country. As long as there is bureaucracy and all those long waiting procedures just to obtain citizenship, I don't see where our country is going.
No.2 Finding work
Finding a job is tough and it's almost similar to looking for a needle in a haystack. And even if there are jobs, the seniors/bosses may want a certain candidate and this means that not everyone is entitled to get the job. So frustrating, right? Imagine showing up for the job interview after job seeking for God knows how long, and you get rejected because you lack the qualities to do so. And not to forget, many jobs require candidates to have a university degree. But let's face it, many youths today have financial problems or their families are not financially stable enough to pay for pricey university fees. Hence, there should be policies where candidates are allowed to work and let their bosses evaluate their work performance instead of going through lengthy job interviews and showing all their degrees. A university degree shouldn't be a determiner for Youths' career life. That's old school.
No.3 Education should be free for all
How do we ensure equitable access to education for everyone? Should university education be free? How can we make the education system more inclusive? The purpose of learning institutions is to educate civilians and not eat away their money like hungry monsters. In my opinion, we should reduce university fees or just make education free for all. I know many poor families in Malaysia who cannot afford to send their children to school and these poor kids end up becoming food sellers or peddlers. How sad!
No.4 Increase wages
I know that there are many/some companies eager to recruit job seekers but often, the salary they offer is low. RM1500 or RM1000 is little. Some people work at their companies for many years and do not receive a single raise. With rising food prices and higher costs of living, someone in parliament or the government should do something about this problem. Maybe, there should be a policy which encourages companies to raise wages.
No.5 Impose heavier rules on policemen who abuse their power
Everyone knows that many Malaysian policemen tend to abuse their power and sometimes issue unnecessary samans to motorcyclists or drivers. Sometimes, these policemen will find all types of faults with you. And if you want to be let off, they will offer you to pay a substantial amount of cash to be let off.
The duty of police officers is to safeguard the civilians' safety. If we keep encountering nasty police officers, the people's faith in officers of the law will be diminished.
There are actually many issues in our country that need to be addressed and not every day see politicians bickering, parties pulling out, etc. No, we want actions for our everyday issues. Not just hear MUDA pulled out from Unity Government or Zahid being set free. Sure, all these cases are good to know but what about the plights of the Rakyat? Stateless children, rising food prices, fuel, higher cost of living and more, need to be solved.
