It is a nightmare to enter and exit Kota Kemuning, especially during the peak hours on weekdays.
Traffic congestion has been an issue there for more than a decade and there has been no action so far from authorities to help curb this. Residents of Kota Kemuning and Bandar Rimbayu rely on only a handful of roads entering Kesas highway to get to their destinations.
A letter in the News Straits Times, however, recommended several solutions for the authorities to mitigate the congestion; “build bridges” from Kota Kemuning crossing over Sungai Klang to Alam Megah and Putra Heights. With that, these will give residents of Kota Kemuning and Rimbayu access to the LRT stations there.
Although these plans sound feasible, people would still have to rely on their private vehicles to get there. This still further adds on the car dependency rate and would continue to add congestion. It also leaves people who are not able to afford cars behind.
SA08, being the only line connecting Kota Kemuning to LRT, is time-consuming as it takes at least an hour to reach the latter. The commuting time would only double when there is a massive jam. This is why most people prefer to drive as, for instance, getting to Subang takes 20 to 40 minutes.
Furthermore, the SA08 line has an underwhelming number of buses of 3 to 4. This raises uncertainties among commuters who rely on SA08 to get to their destinations accessible by LRT as the existing traffic jams will affect their desired arrival time and contribute to a longer waiting time.
So, public transportation is normally frowned upon in Kota Kemuning as it becomes a luxury for only people who have ample of time to kill.
