Malaysia was promised reform.
We were promised a new political culture.
We were promised zero tolerance for corruption.
The Prime Minister speaks passionately about integrity. About cleaning the system. About rebuilding trust.
But here’s the problem.
When allegations surface involving the head of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the very institution tasked to fight corruption, the response feels familiar.
Deny.
Defend.
Demand letters.
And Malaysians are tired of deja vu.
The issue is not whether the report by Bloomberg is accurate.
The issue is whether the standard applied to political enemies is the same standard applied to allies.
Because reform cannot be selective.
Reform cannot depend on who you like.
Reform cannot only roar when it is convenient.
Kalau benar nak perangi rasuah, jangan pilih bulu.
If the Prime Minister truly believes in institutional integrity, then transparency must be automatic, not forced.
Bukan bila ditekan baru buka mulut.
Bukan bila terdedah baru bersuara.
Malaysians are not asking for drama.
They are asking for consistency.
And consistency is what separates reform from rhetoric.
Kerana rakyat bukan bodoh.
They can see the difference between anti-corruption as a slogan
and anti-corruption as a principle.
And right now, what they are watching
is not confidence.
It is contradiction.
