Hannah Yeoh's story is one not only to be envied by all future MPs but to be emulated as a role model.
She has 100% parliamentary attendance record to date. Another accomplishment that many MPs never thought possible. You cannot be a great MP if you don't even make an effort to attend the august assembly for and on behalf of your constituents who put you there.
She is very responsive to the needs of her constituents. We have written to her and had received replies within three days but not so for other MPs.
She communicates well in three languages. For most of us it's just English or Bahasa Malaysia. But she knows her own mother tongue too.
She comes across as sincere in her communication generating trust in her as a reliable Member of Parliament. She looks directly at you. None of that politician's shifty eyes look.
When she says she would help she went all the way to make it happen. The most recent was speaking out for us in the Bukit Damansara neighbourhood on the chaotic traffic dispersal system around the construction site of Pavillion Damansara. That caught some immediate attention.
She fights to right the wrongs for all in her constituency irrespective of their ethnicity or religious background.
When she visited the Bukit Damansara mosque residents were surprised at how sincere she is about being their representative.
Dressed in Malay kebaya she won the hearts of many residents at the mosque. They still talk about that visit during early morning coffee after subuh at Mubeen cafe, nearby the mosque.
She is a qualified lawyer trained in Australia and a capable lawmaker.
But most of all she is our candidate in the Segambut area and we are fortunate and proud to have her as our MP.
We have not endorsed any candidate in this column.
However, I happen to live in a constituency where she is the immediate past MP and she has done well. We do not know the others who are in the running.
Therefore it's only logical that we forecast for her win by a big margin mostly because she has won the hearts and minds of residents in Segambut.
Good luck Hannah Yeoh!
