1st, the YDPA posted a photo of him with PMX and the Chief Secretary to the government.
Yes, the Prime Minister has a regular, routine weekly audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. This meeting is typically held at Istana Negara and serves as the pre-Cabinet briefing, where the Prime Minister updates the King on government administration, national issues, and upcoming Cabinet decisions.
2ndly, few days ago, prior to that, at a Pakatan Harapan (PH) convention in Johor Bahru, PMX said that he is considering calling a general election in the near term, after Barisan Nasional (BN) - a partner in his unity government - announced its intention to go solo in the upcoming Johor state elections.
3rdly, at the recent event where Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi announced that they will resign as MP for their respective constituencies and also leave PKR, several other MPs from PKR were sighted to be in attendance at the event.
Among the PKR MPs who were present were Wong Chen (Subang), Bakhtiar Wan Chik (Balik Pulau), Rodziah Ismail (Ampang), Zahir Hassan (Wangsa Maju), and Lee Chean Chung (Petaling Jaya).
Immediately following that, quick as a bullet, PKR secretary-general announced that PKR will discuss possible action against several of its members of Parliament who attended the event.
At present, with Rafizi and Nik Nazmi having tendered their resignations as MP, PKR only has 29 MPs within their ranks.
If PKR were to discipline the 5 PKR MPs that was present at Rafizi and Nik Nazmi’s event, they will only have 24 MPs left in the Pakatan coalition.
Strategically, would PKR dared to take this risk of disciplining and suspending them?
Unless the 16th GE is to be held soon.
PKR’s leadership would not have the galls to discipline and possibly suspend them then.
However, if PMX were to decide and finish the present term before calling the 16th GE which is almost one and a half year away, they might want to discipline them but only to the extent that a letter would be issued to them for seek their explanation and justification for their presence at that event.
Events swirling around compounded by the fact that the Melaka and Johor state assemblies would have to be dissolved legistatively soon, seems to point to the possibility that the 16th GE is just round the corner.
Any guess when this will happen?
