Secretary General of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Hamzah Zainuddin reportedly said in a statement that the Kuala Kangsar MP was taken to a hotel in Damansara in Klang Valley on 1 Oct 2023 where he met a high-ranking MACC officer and was threatened with corruption charges should he refuse to sign a media statement, which had been prepared to say that he supports the government.

He also alleged that this is the 2nd time an approach was made towards the Kuala Kangsar MP with the 1st attempt made on 26 Sept 2023.

This appears to be a serious accusation and if proven true, can damage the integrity and credibility of MACC.

MACC has since denied the allegation.

MACC should now initiate legal action against the Secretary General of PN for making the spurious allegation otherwise their integrity and credibility will forever be tarnished.

Be that as it may, any threats would not have worked if the Kuala Kangsar MP had not done or participated in any corrupt acts before.

So there is no reason for him to be worried that necessitate him to agree to the alleged offer of publicly saying he supports the government of the day.

The claim by the Secretary General of PN appears to give the impression to the general public that the MP did indeed or must have committed some corrupt act that warrants charges to be made against him.

Otherwise, prior to the claim by the Secretary General of PN, why did the MP have earlier pledged publicly, that he is now supporting the Madani government?

He must have felt or had the view that the charges are real and are not something fabricated out of thin air.

Nevertheless, even if he is to be charged, he can always claim it was political persecution, a common and typical response by politicians from both sides of the divide whenever they are charged with corruption.

In fact, in the statement by the Secretary General of PN, it appears that an act of extortion occurs as the alleged high-ranking officer threatens to do or say something including damage to reputation that will harm the Kuala Kangsar MP.

Simply put, the Secretary General of PN is saying that the Kuala Kangsar MP was coerced to do something under the threat of blackmail.

In such a scenario, if what the Secretary General of PN claimed is true, he and his party and the coalition they are in, PN, should publicly brand the blackmailers.

PN, as a coalition, must show intelligence and lead in honor and conscience in today’s political landscape in this country.

PN must not yield to those blackmailers.

Down with the political blackmailers!

The ordinary rakyat will follow your cue and scorn and boycott them in future elections!

Expose their infamous names to the ordinary rakyat!

PN must protect its members and its leaders from wasting their time on mud-slingers and their filthy slander.
