When I read that there are now two PNs that are both going to contest against themselves in the coming elections, my first thought was that we have indeed become a mad nation.
A Mad Madani nation.
First the government decided to contest against itself in elections.
Now it looks like even the opposition is going to contest against itself in the coming election.
PKR MPs like Wong Chen and Lee Chean Chung are openly in favour of Bersama, despite remaining with PKR. They are amongst around 10 PKR MPs whose love is for Bersama, although their marriage is with PKR.
This mad and absurd relationship between MPs and their party is not restricted to the government.
At least 13 of Bersatu's MPs are also openly in love with Hamzah's Parti Wawasan Negara, although they are married to Bersatu.
If the MPs are mad, their leaders are not exactly sane either.
DAP and UMNO leaders like Onn Hafiz and Anthony Loke are slugging it out in public one day, and hugging each other another day.
PH head Anwar and UMNO Chief Zahid are also accusing each other of betrayal and arrogance in public, although Anwar is the PM and Zahid is his DPM.
If the politicians are a confusing lot, the royalty is not exactly easy to understand either.
Negeri Sembilan currently has either two kings or no kings, and all of us are pretending like we don't see it.
A titah that the Selangor Palace issues to the government must be obeyed unconditionally, but a titah that the Pahang Palace issued to the government, on the other hand...is just an optional advice?
How does this work ? Well, your guess is as good as mine.
If people are maddening enough, even the ideas that make up our country , like the Rukun Negara, have not been spared by troubles.
The Tony Pua affair is indicating that the Rukun Negara is in conflict with itself. Tony says he is upholding the ""Keluhuran Perlembagaan" part, but his critics are saying that he is going against the "Kesetiaan kepada Raja Dan Negara" part. Considering that his case is likely going to court soon, the dispute is likely even going to drag the "kedaulatan Undang Undang" part into the quagmire.
These by the way, are just some of the things that I recalled off the cuff, as I reflected on how absurd, meaningless and mad we have become as a nation.
If I give it a few minutes, I am sure I can name a half a dozen more.
It makes me suspicious that the RAHMAN prophecy is right - that after Najib, our country as we know it will indeed be swallowed by absurdities and madness.
A thing becomes meaningless when it can mean anything - if a yes can also mean no and maybe, and a maybe can also mean yes and no, and no can also mean maybe and yes, the terms yes, no and maybe will essentially become meaningless.
When we are in a fierce conflict against ourselves, it means we are mentally ill.
There is a saying: " Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad."
We are mad if good seems bad, bad seems good, right seems wrong and wrong seems
right.
At this point, I think that there are grounds that the gods might be intending to destroy us.
That is why they are gradually but assuredly, making the things we deal with absurd and meaningless, until we trip at the brink of madness and find ourselves swallowed in oblivion.
Whoever it was that came up with the RAHMAN prophecy, that person might truly be able to see the future .
