Malay opposition leaders seek the help of former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad to open a new umbrella in uniting the Malays Dr M unveils new secretariat to 'unite Malays', Mahathir announced the formation of the new movement “Malay Secretariat” at Yayasan Kepimpinan Perdana with the presence of several leaders, including Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, and Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man. They feel threatened and insecure under the current government, which gives so much favor to DAP.
They need an umbrella before it rains. Everyone realizes that the Malays, despite being a majority, are still relatively weak. Each leader forms their own party to gain power, which leads to fragmentation and self-indulgence. Now, the DAP has become a looming presence that intimidates them, causing them to feel the political pressure from DAP regarding the Malaysian-Malaysia policy. Conversely, the DAP has also become a tool for uniting the Malays.
The prevailing belief is that the only solution to the issues facing Malays is for them to regain control of the government. It appears that they still rely on Tun Mahathir's insights to address the Malay dilemma. While his book "The Malay Dilemma" may not be as significant as Karl Marx's "Das Kapital" or Nelson Mandela's "Long Walk to Freedom," its ideas remain relevant as long as the Malay dilemma remains unresolved. The Malay dilemma is a longstanding subject for Tun Mahathir. In 1970, he wrote the book "The Malay Dilemma," in which he explores various solutions in the first chapter titled "What Went Wrong with the Malays?" This influential and controversial book was banned by the then Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra. The ban was implemented because the book contained criticisms that did not align with the leadership's perspectives on Malay issues. DILEMA MELAYU – Perdana Leadership Foundation
After 55 years, Dr Mahathir is now criticising the government on several issues. He claims there are restrictions on the freedom to discuss matters concerning Malays, including challenges related to the Malay language, the Malay economy, and the ownership of national assets. He argues that constitutional principles are being overlooked and that the position of Malays is no longer as protected as it once was. So, where is the ending of Malay dilemma?
