The Smell of Politics Is Stronger Than Kopi O! In Bolehland, politics is like Anneh coffee stall teh tarik.

Always hot. Always noisy. And somehow, always spilling on somebody’s shirt.

Now suddenly, Negeri Sembilan got tension. Pakatan Harapan trying to “ease tensions”, Menteri Besar say be ready for snap polls, UMNO people smiling here, complaining there, supporting today, shaking table tomorrow.

Aiyo.

At this point, rakyat not even shocked anymore.

Every few months got new drama. One day unity government. Next day internal rebellion. One side hug each other in Putrajaya. Another side sharpen knife quietly behind curtain.

Bolehland politics now like smiling wolf wearing batik shirt.

We Already Watched This Movie Before

Malaysians are tired because we already lived through the Sheraton Move trauma.

People queued under hot sun during GE14. They voted believing change finally arrived. Abah came. Then suddenly political frogs started jumping like monsoon season.

After Abah, Muhyiddin came. Then government changed again. Then another PM. Then another alliance. Then everybody suddenly become “best friend for stability.”

Now they ask rakyat to trust again?

Trust what exactly?

The only thing stable in Malaysian politics is instability.

Snap Polls? With What Money?

This is the part that makes uncle at Anneh coffee shop laugh until cough.

Country talking about subsidy cuts, diesel hikes, taxes, targeted aid, rationalisation, national debt, weak ringgit, cost of living.

Then suddenly got people talking about snap polls in Negeri Sembilan.

Maybe Melaka next.

Maybe Johor again.

Aiyo brother.

Election not free one.

Who paying?

Rakyat paying.

The same rakyat now counting coins at petrol station, reducing grocery list, sharing Netflix password, and pretending RM20 still can survive one week.

But politicians?

Still discussing power like they discussing extra sambal.

If really unstable already, just call GE16 and settle once.

Why keep doing “retail elections” like warehouse clearance sale every few months?

PH Being Too Nice Or Too Naive?

This is where many PH supporters getting frustrated.

Some feel PH keeps trying to play “good partner” while certain UMNO factions behave like double-headed snakes.

Morning support government.

Night time attack own coalition.

One side smile in cabinet.

Another side whisper inside division meetings.

This is not coalition harmony.

This is political speed dating.

And PH supporters asking a painful question now:

Did we vote for reform… or did we vote to babysit old political habits?

Because every time tension comes, PH seems busy calming everybody else while its own supporters become more disappointed.

The Mosquito Party Syndrome

Malaysia also has another funny disease.

Mosquito parties acting like they are elephants.

Tiny political groups with few seats suddenly want control big coalition direction.

Everybody threatening.

Everybody negotiating.

Everybody acting kingmaker.

End result?

No reform moves properly.

No policy moves fast.

Everything becomes compromise until nobody even remembers original promise anymore.

This is classic Bolehland logic:

The party with smallest number sometimes shouts the loudest.

The Fragrance of the Farm

One politician recently used the phrase “pig and cattle farm” in describing political behaviour.

Strong words.

But honestly, many rakyat already feel Malaysian politics smells strange.

Rewarding betrayal.

Protecting convenience.

Punishing loyalty.

Suddenly enemies become allies.

Suddenly yesterday’s villains become today’s strategic partners.

Then rakyat expected to clap hands and say “wah stability.”

No wonder people becoming cynical.

In Bolehland, political memory lasts shorter than supermarket promotions.

Meanwhile, Real Life Goes On

While politicians calculate seats, ordinary Malaysians calculate survival.

The B40 worry about rent.

The M40 worry about slipping into B40.

Young people worry whether they can ever buy house before retirement age.

Small businesses struggling.

Food prices rising.

Salaries moving like old Proton Saga climbing Genting.

But political class?

Still discussing alignments, tensions, and strategy dinners over roti canai.

Sometimes rakyat look at politicians laughing together after insulting each other during campaign season and think:

“Maybe we are the real joke here.”

The Fox Tail Strategy

UMNO supporting the administration but questioning certain state leadership creates another dangerous perception.

Support government.

But distance yourself from unpopular parts.

Friendly outside.

Calculating inside.

Fox tail strategy.

Keep options open.

Prepare escape route.

Politics lah.

But this also makes coalition look fragile.

And fragile governments rarely inspire long-term confidence.

The Brutal Truth

The rakyat are exhausted.

Not angry only.

Tired.

Tired of hearing reform slogans without visible transformation.

Tired of political recycling.

Tired of alliances changing faster than weather forecast.

Tired of leaders asking for patience while ordinary people already stretching every ringgit.

If snap polls happen now, some voters may not even become angry.

They may simply stay home, makan nasi lemak, enjoy public holiday, and ignore the whole circus.

That is the dangerous stage for any democracy:

When frustration becomes emotional shutdown.

Final Thought

Maybe the biggest lesson after GE14 and Sheraton is this:

Trust, once broken repeatedly, becomes very expensive to rebuild.

So if leaders really want stability, stop behaving like temporary business partners negotiating contracts every few months.

Govern properly.

Deliver properly.

Or call GE16 and let rakyat decide properly.

Because Bolehland cannot keep surviving on endless political drama while the country’s wallet keeps getting thinner.

Run with the hare, hunt with the hound and eventually, you become dinner.

Annan Vaithegi write Malaysian street-level political commentaries blending satire, public frustration, and grassroots reality because sometimes the clearest truth in politics is heard not in Parliament, but at the Anneh coffee stall.
