As I was running through FMT’s page this fine morning, two articles caught my eyes.

These two articles caught my eyes because the second article literally confirmed the claim of the first article, which said that many of the academics and professors that serve in our universities and academia, are likely very stupid people.

I don’t know who Azmi Hassan from Akademi Nusantara, who is the analyst quoted in the first article, is , but I think he must be an important and influential intellectual in our country, because I have noticed that his views is highly sought out, at least by FMT, in the last two or three days.

I remember his name, because just a few days ago I wrote an article that was featured in Focus Malaysia, about how bizarre one of his claims was. (If you are interested, you can read the article here)

If a few days ago, I suspected that Azmi Hassan wasn't operating with a full deck of cards, today I am absolutely certain.

Despite being just a humble teacher myself, I will say with the utmost conviction that even if Azmi Hassan is a highly respected and esteemed intellectual and academic to the local media circuit, in my books, he is what The late Syed Hussein Alatas would term as a “profesor kangkong”.

I think so, because I can’t believe how he can say that “there is little logic in a Bersatu leader’s claim that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim enticed opposition MPs into supporting him.”

In less than one month, four – not one, or two or three – but four, Bersatu MP’s have stated their support for Anwar while remaining in the opposition fold, but Azmi Hassan seems to believe that this is such a normal and naturally occurring phenomenon, that it is utterly illogical for anyone to think that this is an orchestrated event.

When he contemplated on the subject of four opposition MP’s sleeping with the government while professing their love for the opposition all within the space of one month, which is such a shameful act that if this was Japan, these four MP’s would probably have to commit seppuku to save their face, and he heard someone postulate that this sort of shameful event by multiple parliamentarians in such a short span of time, can only be explained by an active attempt to lure opposition MP’s to the government side, the first thought that came to his mind is : “Ridiculous! It is illogical to say that!”

His way of thinking, to me, is so utterly devoid of merit, that I am not even going to attempt to analyse his reasons. You can check his reasons out yourself here if you want to. I am just going to leave it to you as it is and leave it for you to see how utterly bereft of intelligence his thinking is, just as it is.

Reading Azmi Hassan’s thoughts then made me remember another article, about how half of our SPM students do not desire to continue their studies further.

When I first read that article, I thought it was worrying that our students do not wish to expand their mind by going to college or universities.

After seeing what the likes of Azmi Hassan has to say in the last few days though, suddenly I feel better.

Our students, I believe now, might be more well aware of what is going on in our universities and colleges than I am.

That is why, rather than pursue their education further and get their reasoning ability damaged listening to the lectures of our professor kangkong, they are deciding to go straight to the job market with their brains and sanity intact.
