Hey! Did you know? Azlan wrote the free book in a record time, a day, using such apps as AI-Apps, Grok, ChatGPT, and Gemini.
Azlan, an OKU, traces Rafizi’s journey from rural Terengganu to the centre of Malaysian political life. It follows his evolution from a high-achieving student at Malay College Kuala Kangsar and the University of Leeds, to a chartered accountant in the UK, a senior executive at PETRONAS, and later one of Malaysia’s most recognisable reformist politicians.
Azlan, in an interview, said: “The narrative examines how technical training in engineering and accounting shaped his political identity: analytical, systems-oriented, and structurally focused. It situates his rise within the broader context of Malaysia’s post-Reformasi political landscape, where questions of governance, accountability, and institutional reform became central national themes.
“From his role in high-profile exposés such as the National Feedlot Corporation controversy to his work in party strategy and electoral mobilisation, Rafizi emerges as a figure defined by data-driven politics and a willingness to challenge entrenched systems of power. His tenure as Minister of Economy is explored as a transition from critique to implementation, as reform ideals meet the constraints of bureaucracy, coalition politics, and public expectations.”
This biography also traces the recurring tension in his career between institutional participation and principled distance. Periods of political retreat, re-entry, and reinvention are interpreted as part of a broader pattern of cyclical engagement with power structures, rather than linear political ascent.
More importantly, Azlan said this is an unauthorised biography. “It is written independently, without endorsement, collaboration, or approval from the subject or any affiliated political organisation. It draws on public records, media reporting, and analytical interpretation to construct a coherent narrative of a public life still in motion.”
At its core, the book asks a simple but difficult question: what happens when a systems thinker enters the unpredictable machinery of politics—and attempts not only to critique it, but to rebuild it from within? Azlan is the founder of the Green Party of Malaysia.
