Listening to Urimai chairman P Ramasamy rant about how PAS cut ties with Bersatu out of “fear and perhaps jealousy” that the Bersatu would overshadow the Islamic party, it has become increasingly clear to me that it will be PAS will be able to keep the name PN, while Bersatu can expect to be kicked out of PN in the very near future.
According to Ramasamy: “the real reason PAS severed ties with Bersatu is because of jealousy."
“Essentially, PAS wanted to ensure that Bersatu’s growing popularity was nipped in the bud,” Ramasamy wrote in his facebook post.
I personally hope that Ramasamy just said what he said because what else can he say, because if he truly believes in what he says, those near and dear around him should find himself professional help.
I personally find there to be nothing to object to what Ramasamy is saying, because what he said is so absurd, that it objects itself - if anybody truly believes in what Ramasamy said, there is nothing to be done other than to leave them alone, because they self-evidently living in a world of their own.
If Ramasamy's rant has any worth, it is that it is telling us that Bersatu is set to be kicked out of PN soon.
While Bersatu heads PN, Ramasamy, whose Urimai party is part of Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat, a loose coalition led by Muhyiddin, could perhaps expect to someday be a part of PN, and obtain a glimmer of hope that it might be able to win something in an election and hold on to some degree of political relevance.
But with Bersatu likely to be cast out of PN in the very near future, Ramasamy and his party Urimai will likely be joining Bersatu and Muhyiddin in the graveyard of politics soon too.
It is likely out of this sense of grievance, that Ramasamy is beating his chest and denouncing PAS in a manner that can only be described as absurd and emotionally charged.
Other than Ramasamy losing the plot, that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang will be the one who will officiate former Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin's Reset convention in Kelantan on June 13, is also another indication that Bersatu is going to be the one that will be kicked out of PN soon.
Hamzah is set to announce his new political party on June 13. That Hadi is the guest of honour in the event that announces it, tells us that it will be Hamzah's new party that will join PN once Bersatu is cast out.
Other than that, that Hadi is the one that is saying that it is up to Gerakan or Parti Rakyat India Malaysia (MIPP) as to whether they want PAS or Bersatu to remain with PN is also a sign that it will be PAS that will stay with PN.
"It depends on our friends. According to PN's constitution, it must be the majority of the member parties in PN that must make a decision," Hadi reportedly told Utusan Malaysia earlier.
That Hadi is leaving the decision to PN's component parties is a sign that he is sure that PN's component parties will be siding with PAS. If not, he might have ranted emotionally like Ramasamy too.
I personally belief that the newly configured PN, with Bersatu out and Hamzah's party in, will see PN emerge much stronger than before.
Not only does it signal that PN internal dispute is over, The new PN will likely be headed by the a Dr Ahmad Samsuri - Hamzah combo, that might likely capture the imagination of voters outside of PAS's and PN's traditional base.
The coming Johor election on July 11 is going to be the main test for PN, and if I was a betting person, I would bet that PN is going to be one of the big wiinners or perhaps even the biggest winner in coming Johor election.
PN currently holds 3 seats in Johor.
If the newly reconfigured PN wins more than 3 seats, it can already be considered a winner. If doubles its winning to six, it can arguably even claim the title of the biggest winner in the election.
