In a recent disagreement between Kedah's Menteri Besar, Sanusi Md Nor, and the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Tiong King Sing , Sanusi presented an intriguing challenge in response to the ongoing debate about tourism policies on Pulau Langkawi, as reported by FMT news.

Sanusi's challenge to Tiong King Sing was rather unconventional but aimed to make a point about the perceived strictness of his administration's policies towards tourists on the island.

Sanusi dared Tiong King Sing to visit Pulau Langkawi, don shorts, and partake in the consumption of alcohol.

The purpose of this unusual challenge was to test the waters, so to speak, and demonstrate that the policies in question might not be as rigid as they seem.

Tiong Sing King, in his capacity as the Minister of Tourism, had previously criticized Sanusi's administration for imposing what he considered stringent regulations on tourists, particularly concerning attire and alcohol consumption.

He held Sanusi's administration accountable for numerous complaints he had received from tourists who were displeased with these restrictions.

Tiong King Sing called for Sanusi to provide an explanation for these measures during the winding up speech on the 12th Malaysia Plan mid-term review in the dewan rakyat for his Ministry,

Additionally, Tiong King Sing also touched on the lack of participation from Members of parliament and State Officials in meetings organised by his Ministry to discuss strategies for promoting and developing the tourism industry.

He also emphasized the necessity of fostering collaboration between state and federal authorities to ensure the prosperity of the tourism industry.

This dispute between the two officials underscores the contrasting viewpoints regarding tourism management in the region.

It also highlights the significance of cohesive cooperation between state and federal bodies in effectively promoting the tourism sector.

Such collaboration is crucial for achieving a balanced approach that satisfies both the concerns of local administrations and the needs and expectations of tourists.
