In a democracy, the government is the choice of the rakyat.

The government of the people, for the people and by the people.

When the General Elections cannot vote in a majority coalition, the coalition with the highest number of MPs shall be appointed as PM of a minority government. The status of such PM shall be defined by a vote of confidence.

The Agong had asked the Speaker to conduct the Statutory Declarations (SD) poll to determine the appointment of the Prime Minister. (In my opinion, the Speaker's post ceased with the dissolution of Parliament.)

The SD poll is not in the spirit of democracy. The poll is not public and the secrecy of such action is subject to abuse. As Malaysia recognized the slogan Cash is King, support can be bought as was seen in the Sheraton move. The rakyat has spoken and let the Dewan Rakyat, where the rakyat's representatives take the oaths of office, decide.

In my opinion, the Attorney General must advise His Majesty on the legalities involved.

In my opinion, the Agong should not summon MPs for their opinions. The MPs answer to the rakyat in the Dewan Rakyat.

Malaysia has a history of feudalism but that is history. We now have a government of the people, for the people and by the people. The Agong shall abide by the Constitution and be advised by the people through the Prime Minister.

The General Election was to determine a new government. If any party that has less than the coalition that obtained the highest number of elected MPs, then what is the point of having a general election at all? This SD poll is like another Sheraton move. It is not democratic. It is a secret poll that the rakyat did not vote for.

During the feudal system, the King can do as he pleased. But those days are gone. In the present democratic system, the rakyat's voice is the ultimate voice. Thus decisions in respect of the General Elections must be decided in the Dewan Rakyat, the place where decisions are made by rakyat through their representatives, the MPs.
