While many politicians don’t have the guts to say what they were thinking or they weren’t “allowed” to say out loud in case they are shouted down by their own political leaders, the recent expression by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan is indeed heartening for a lot ordinary Malaysians.

The Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan reportedly said he was shocked and disheartened that some still rally behind individuals found guilty of serious corruption offences, as if such acts were acceptable or forgivable during the investiture ceremony of state awards, medals and honours in conjunction with his 78th birthday at Istana Besar Seri Menanti on 14 Jan 2026.

In a posting on his Facebook on 9 Jan 2026, the YDP Agong similarly expressed that the people have the right to feel disappointed when authorities are found to abuse their positions or engage in corruption.

The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah has repeatedly and publicly spoken out against corruption, expressing concern and disappointment that some people continue to support and even "worship" corrupt leaders.

In his message in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration in 2021, Sultan Nazrin said corruption is a harmful cancer that had been proven to be the cause of the people's suffering and poverty, the fall of governments and rulers, the collapse of nations and empires and the ruins of civilisations and cultures.

Just few days ago, on 13 Jan 2026 while addressing the 74th National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI), his Highness again voiced concern over segments of the Muslim community who appear to have lost their moral compass, becoming trapped in materialism, obsessed with status, and intoxicated by power adding that material wealth has become a new creed for certain quarters of the ummah, fuelling unhealthy rivalry, ethical breaches, and a loss of humanity, as integrity is sacrificed in the pursuit of material gain.

Did the messages from these 3 royals reached the intended target audience?

Obviously no.

Otherwise, Sultan Nazrin of Perak would not need to repeat this message year in year out since 2021.

Especially those who screamed and shout on top of their voices publicly that what they are doing is to protect kaum, agama dan Raja?

If they are sincere and honest in protecting all three, they should heed the calls from the Raja Raja and return to the pangkal.

All of them should reflect on their faith, principles and values constantly.
