The main question dominating the discourse is whether the nation’s dignity and sovereignty have been compromised in favour of a major global power like the US. Is the EHM model still in existence today, or has it evolved into an even more sophisticated system—one that allows powerful nations like the United States to easily consume weaker or less prepared countries? In such a scenario, the idea of shouting “independence” would lose its meaning entirely.
In truth, the only way to reassure the public and reveal the real contents of this agreement is for the government to bring forward the officials who were actually involved in conceptualising, studying, and drafting it. The public has grown weary and no longer trusts explanations from politicians, whose statements often feel theatrical and inconsistent. Yet only two figures appear to be offering clarification on an agreement of such scale and importance. Is it really just PMX and Zafrul?
