After Umno's backing, Dr Akmal Salleh, the Umno Youth Chief, called for boycotts to close KK Mart and advised the owners of the convenience chain to find another business.

The boycott was prompted by an incident involving offensive socks being sold at KK Mart, which Dr Akmal deemed as a deliberate ploy to incite public outrage.

Dr Akmal Salleh's call for a boycott of KK Mart may be misplaced, as the convenience chain has taken swift action to rectify the situation and has shown accountability for the mistake.

Despite KK Mart and its vendor issuing public apologies and displaying apology statements at all cash registers, Dr Akmal continues to push for a boycott, using the incident to further his political interests. His refusal to accept the apologies and move on from the issue only serves to prolong the public uproar and potentially divide society.

He said this boycott is a lesson to any party that tries to play up very sensitive issues. It is amusing to see his deceptive statement when logic sense can tell that KK Mart's offensive socks case is an unintentional blunder caused by a lack of quality control of product distributions.

It is truly mind-boggling that KK Mart would play up sensitive issues to hurt consumers and affect their own business. It simply does not make sense. It is Akmal Salleh who has taken the opportunity to exploit this KK Mart blunder to incite sentiments for his ulterior motives.

Akmal Salleh should wait for the authorities to complete their investigation of this case. He should refrain from assuming the roles of 'judge, jury, and executioner' but should behave like a responsible politician with integrity.

It is time for Akmal Salleh to show leadership with humility and grace to accept the apology and move on to promote unity within the community, rather than fanning the flames of public outrage. Prolonging the public uproar will only divide society further.

Religion teaches us the value of forgiveness, and it would raise Akmal Salleh's status to a higher degree to accept the apology in a spirit of forgiveness, especially during the month of Ramadan. This case was not a preconceived action to cause harm but an unintentional mistake caught unaware by KK Mart management.
