“A fool and his money are soon parted.”

Victor Chin had stumped up RM9.5 million claiming this was paid to a PKR MP to discuss with the corporate mafia to resolve his legal problems with them. He demanded this hefty sum to be returned to him before 30 March or the identity of this MP will be exposed because it was not resolved.

A couple of days later , Chin changed his tune , claiming the payment was not to settle any enforcement agency or stop investigations or settle allegations of impropriety against him. It was a “service fee” paid under duress to stop the persecution against him.

All this while , he insists he was innocent and had claimed his involvement with the corporate mafia was because he was threatened, intimidated and repeatedly demanded by a Mr. R to deliver shares of NexG, the sole supplier of Malaysia’s passport booklet and identity cards.

And yet , RM9.5 million was parted.

“It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than open it and remove all doubt.”-Mark Twain.

Following Chin’s fingering a Mr. R. being a PKR MP , and speculation by media and alleged accusation by cyber troopers, Pakatan Harapan Datuk Seri R. Ramanan held a press conference to categorically denied he is Mr. R.

Of course , the other obvious Mr. R could have been Rafizi Ramli since R was the clue disclosed by Chin . Ramanan of course dragged this other R into the fray.

Rafizi, currently persona non grata MP in PKR, is openly being accused of sabotaging the party. He admitted in jest he gained something, confessing he had gained weight from over-indulgent during Hari Raya.

Rafizi is an easy target for many things not right for PKR. But he did not open his mouth until he was dragged in. Ramanan was perturbed and verbally very defensive even though the identity of Mr. R may not be revealed if Mr. R returns the money and if revealed it was not due for a few days yet.

“An idiot is an idiot. Two idiots are two idiots. Ten thousand idiots are a political party”- Franz Kafka.

The government and even the opposition parties, after some brouhaha about setting a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Azam Baki’s alleged shareholdings and MCAA Section D is now ominously quiet on this front.

Yes, they all are political parties but surely not all are lacking in common sense , basic responsibilities and simple justice .

Perhaps, they fear exposure of embarrassing and scandalous events or even corruption from the investigations of MCAA. It is said J. Edgar Hoover, FBI Director for nearly fifty years, was feared by eight US presidents because of the confidential files he had on them and their families.

Currently, Azam Baki seems to have the chutzpah to propose new laws to curb and fight corruption of NGOs , political parties and public officials while questions of his shareholdings and institutional misconduct has not been answered.

Kafka knew a thing or two about justice and government as he wrote The Trial and The Castle about distant bureaucracy and absurdity of the law.

“A mistake repeated more than once is a decision”- Paulo Coelho.

Back in early 2022, Azam Baki was charged and later dismissed for illegal stock trading. This year, he was at it again but the government investigated but there is still no outcome .

Defiantly, he claimed he acted within the law and regulations. We hope there is no second mistake from the government.

“You can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time but you cannot fool all of the people all the time.” -Abraham Lincoln.

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.”

The people have been made to be fools by the government many times since GE16 with broken promises , U-turns, weak reformations , nepotism, appointment of political leaders to heads of agencies and GLC, race and religious prejudice amongst other things.

We are still made to be fools all the time. The time for the people to stop being fools.

Bersih, civil rights organizations, democracy advocates, and hopefully honest politicians if any together with the people must bear the shame of being fooled repeatedly. But as Lincoln said we cannot all be fooled all the time and must not be .

“Who’s the more foolish? The fool, or the fool who follows him?”-Obi-Wan Kenobi

The people seem to be the biggest fool of the lot .We must now cease being followers of deceit and folly, otherwise the nation and the people will fall into a tyranny of corruption and autocracy.

“April 1. This is the day upon which we are reminded of what we are on the other three hundred and sixty-four. “-Mark Twain

Chin is expected to expose who Mr. R is on 30 March, two days before the day which describes politically most of us. Hilarious coincidence or a continuance or 364 foolish days to come in fool's paradise.
