If a tiger was to appear in front of you, what can you do to save yourself ?
Nothing - you are going to die. They tiger will surely maul you.
Why ?
Because 99 percent of solving a problem lies in making sure it does not arise.
When problems arise, they usually can't be solved until you pay a heavy price to solve it.
Some prices that you have to pay will even be so high, that you might not survive paying it.
It is because 99 percent of problems can only be solved before it arises that we have top management in the first place.
It is the top management's job to make sure that problems that can't be solved doesn't arise at all.
The person at the top might look like they are doing nothing but that is just the appearance of things.
In reality, the person at the top is likely doing more things than anyone else in the organisation, because everybody else in the organisation are only dealing with what is happening in front of them, but the person at the top is confronting things that has yet to come to pass.
To do that, they have to be aware of what is going on, how things are moving, what the potential pitfalls and possibilities are and always make preparations to face any eventuality or opportunities.
It is the person at the top that has to make sure that their anticipations and preparations is always sufficient , to meet whatever it is that the organisation has to confront.
If the person at the top fail, then the organisation will inevitably find itself in a situation where it is face to face with a tiger with nothing but colorful language to defend itself..
This is where Aminuddin has failed.
4 undangs and a king do not suddenly quarrel in such a serious way that it not only threatens their own status and position, but poses an existential threat to their entire state, overnight.
This trainwreck that we are seeing in Negeri Sembilan must have simmered for months or years before it happened.
Aminuddin must have known what was happening between the Undangs and the King for a long time.
He must have known what could have happened if their problem came to a head.
He should have anticipated the unprecedented crisis that their problem would cause if it came to pass, and prevented it from happening or at least, made better preparations to face it, even if it couldn't be prevented from happening.
But clearly Aminuddin did none of that, and that is why we are facing this grave and unresolvable crisis today.
This is why the person at the top must always be a brilliant and extremely capable person .
You will never know that the person at the top is unqualified for their job in good times, because in a good time, even a stump of wood serve as the person at the top - but it is only in times of crisis will you be able to separate the wheat from the chaff.
You will be able to tell because if it wasn't for the fact that you don't have a capable person at top, that you are facing an unsurmountable tiger of a problem all by your lonesome in the middle of the jungle, with nothing but your pluck to fact it.
If Aminuddin was qualified to be a person at the top, he should have been on top of things.
If he was on top of things, this problem will have been solved before it happened, and even if this problem did manifest, it wouldn't have manifested to such an extent that it is causing an existential problem to Negeri Sembilan.
That under Aminuddin's watch, things have gotten so out of hand , is clearly a sign that Aminuddin doesn't have what it takes to be at the top.
While I do think that 14 UMNO leaders are self absorbed and irresponsible to launch a coup on Aminuddin's government at a time when the state was in crisis, I do think they are justified in expressing their lack of confidence in Aminuddin's leadership and handling of the state.
While it might not be advisable to change horse midstream, no matter how inadequate the horse is, the horse itself should have some sense of self awareness, shame and responsibility, and quit as soon as the river looks like it is almost crossed.
Even if Aminuddin is to remain in place as the MB of Negeri for as long as the political crisis in Negeri Sembilan lies midstream, if he has any sense of shame or responsibility, he should resign as soon as the the crisis looks like it is on the way to a resolution, regardless of whether the resolution is favorable to him or not.
