Could it be because PMX made a 'glaring omission' that MACC only summoned Tun Daim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin but not Tun Mahathir?

Maybe Kua Kia Soong is right when he says this is a ‘glaring omission’ by PMX who said he has evidence to back his claim against Dr Mahathir Mohamad but did not take immediate action to report to the authorities.

It's unbelievable coming from Anwar who has vowed to target individuals for corruption and money laundering to have forgotten to report on his old nemesis, Tun Mahathir the former PM.

According to RPK, Anwar has said that he has six boxes of evidence against Tun Mahathir. RPK has challenged Anwar to reveal them to prove his allegations against Tun Mahathir.

However, PMX did not take appropriate steps to lodge a report with MACC like we suspect he did with Tun Daim and Tan Sri Muhyiddin. Both have since been investigated with the latter being charged in court recently for corruption and abuse of power. So far, nothing is yet made public on investigations on Tun Daim.

Anyway, instead of going on the offensive, Anwar inadvertently chose to invite Tun Mahathir to send him a Letter of Demand (LOD) asking him to withdraw his allegations that the former PM helped enriched his children.

Kua Kia Soong, a former MP said if Anwar had evidence to back his claim that Mahathir had enriched his family during his time in office, the prime minister should have already lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

“For a prime minister who has committed himself to a zero-tolerance approach towards misconduct and corruption, it is a glaring omission that he has not reported this claim about Mahathir’s self-enrichment to the MACC all this time.”

“Instead, Anwar has made what looks like a huge and serious claim into a tit-for-tat tiff between the two rivals,” he said in a statement on April 8.

In any case, Anwar said he would show Mahathir the evidence to back his statement after lawyers for Tun Mahathir demanded that Anwar retract his statement within seven days. In response, Anwar’s lawyers asked for more time to reply to Mahathir’s letter of demand. Tun Mahathir is amenable to April 17 as an agreed date for them to submit their written response.

Reports say that DAP MP for Damansara, Gobind Singh Deo will act as Anwar’s lead counsel.

With the appointment of Gobind as his lead counsel, it certainly looks like Anwar may not retract his statement but is likely to challenge Tun Mahathir in court. Sparks will fly!

On the other hand, Kua asked an intriguing question whether Anwar’s hesitancy to lodge a MACC report against Mahathir over the years stemmed from his “own skeletons in Mahathir’s closet”?

But Anwar's skeletons in Mahathir's closet, if such things do exist, would be brought into open in court in the event the case goes to trial.

We assume that there might be more than 6 boxes of evidence if indeed Anwar has skeletons in the closet in 22 years during Tun Mahathir's administration. Otherwise, Tun Mahathir would not dare challenge allegations made by Anwar.

Tun Mahathir being an extremely meticulous person would probably have a field day in court going through the exhibits against Anwar if he had accumulated them in the last 22 years but hidden in a closet somewhere handy. Tun Mahathir, from what we know, will not be making any 'glaring omission' like Anwar did against his nemesis and former deputy in a court of law.

We now know why Tun Mahathir was not summoned earlier like they did with Tun Daim Zainuddin. Anwar just inadvertently omitted Tun Mahathir's name from the list to be investigated till now.
