Recently, a trader, who was alleged to have rammed a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle into 2 men riding a motorcycle killing the pillion rider, was charged with murder at the Magistrate's Court.
Was it a road rage issue where the trader’s life was threatened or he was under the influence or mentally unstable or he lost control of his vehicle?
A few days earlier, a preacher shared a video on a posting on his Facebook of 2 men on a motorcycle and 4 others on foot approaching a Jaguar, which he claimed was driven by him.
The preacher, who also lodged a report with the police, in a post on his Facebook, apparently admitted to “running over” 2 men on the motorcycle after they allegedly threw rocks at his car and broke two windows.
The driver of the Jaguar, whoever he or she is, was not investigated nor arrested.
Instead within days, police arrested and obtained a remand for an individual to assist investigations into the case.
Separately, 4 men apparently also surrendered themselves to the police in relation to the same matter.
In this matter, unlike the case of the trader, the video, which went viral, showed the Jaguar which the preacher claimed was driven by him as admitted by him in his posting on his own Facebook, running over a motorcycle with 2 men on it.
The video appeared to have been taken from a motor vehicle on the opposite side of the road to the Jaguar.
The recording started with few men approaching the Jaguar whose windows appeared tinted.
Next, the Jaguar suddenly swung out from the parking space and in its effort to move forward, ran over the motorcycle with 2 men on it.
As the windows of the Jaguar appeared tinted, who was behind the wheel and how many occupants are in the Jaguar cannot be determined with certainty.
Even though members of the public are quick to swing out their mobile phones and record things nowadays in this age of immediate and live reporting, this video does not appear to be from a member of the public suddenly whipping out their mobile phones to record the scene.
The whole episode appears `staged’ or the alleged driver of the Jaguar knew before hand that he was being stalked and he `allowed’ this to happen with his friends or people close to him recording the unfolding events with the sole objective of `framing’ those who are stalking him.
Otherwise, if the recording were done by a member of the public, he wouldn’t have known the identity of the driver of the Jaguar and then shared the video with the driver of the car.
The person recording the video would not have taken the time to search who is the driver of the Jaguar and the contact details for him or her to share the video with the unknown driver.
That person would have, in today’s age, upload the video and shared it widely immediately.
Yes, in the case of the trader, his actions were fatal unlike in the case of the driver of the Jaguar.
The driver’s actions in running over the 2 men on a motorcycle clearly was intentional.
The driver can’t claim that the 2 men on the motorcycle posed a threat to him.
As the authorities always advised, the public can’t take the law into their own hands even when they are facing danger in front of them.
Shouldn’t the police be investigating, locate and charge the driver of the Jaguar in that incident akin to them arresting and charging the trader recently?
Or the individual that was arrested and remanded by the police was the driver of the Jaguar?
Like the preacher said in his recent posting on his Facebook, why is he being targeted for investigation specifically while others who did what he was alleged to have done were not investigated.
