Both Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi obviously decided to be useful than happy.
Both can just sit at the margins of an already full life for them individually.
Both probably dont feel a need to achieve anything.
Both can just continue and stay where they are i.e remains as MP, laze around and hopefully gets appointed to some government agencies and get another payload and possibly spin off benefits from those appointments.
This is atypical of many Members of Parliament and Assemblyperson in this country.
However, in their hearts, both want to use their life, the resources, their sphere of influence, to move things by just one degree for all ordinary Malaysians.
Both saw and witnessed so much incoherence in this country today, feeding into the problems we see.
And both probably hope to change and help all ordinary Malaysians to live in alignment with their values, to think, act and decide with integrity and to believe that one degree of change matters.
What is rare that Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi did recently?
Both resigned as Member of Parliament for Pandan and Titiwangsa on their own volition.
When an elected official resigns to let the public vote again, they are publicly acknowledging that their power comes directly from the ordinary Malaysians who voted for them earlier.
What is meaningful?
Returning the mandate aligns perfectly with principle that the people hold the ultimate power.
What is not repeatable?
That elected officials resigned voluntarily in the future.
Both did not see their position as elected officials as an end in itself.
Both does not want to sustain their political career in a political party that differed from what they choose and wanted to do when they choose to enter politics.
Of course, they can choose to.
But sustainability of their personal self is not what they want.
It is what they want for ordinary Malaysians and the country.
Both choose to advance social and economic development for all ordinary Malaysians.
That probably was the reason why they choose to enter politics and become a politician.
What they did recently, in joining Bersama as a platform for them to advance their social and economic development agenda distinguish them from all other politicians – and their seriousness in achieving those aims.
Both appeared to understand believe that the country’s present trajectory can be restored, regenerate and actively managed moving forward with the possibility of creating positive impact on the lives of many ordinary Malaysians.
Each issue plaguing the existing political landscape and the country demands a rethink and recalibration of the existing structures and processes.
There is no universal template.
Nothing is difficult or hard to answer.
The good thing going for both and the party they represent, Bersama, is the resilience of the ordinary Malaysians.
The deep-rooted ability of every Malaysian, to navigate, adapt and embrace to any adversity.
Both and the party they represent presents an opportunity for all Malaysians to journey with them in choosing the direction of the country, not just for the next 5 years but for generations to come.
Build a new political generation, not succession politics where leadership are passed down like family hierloom and ending politics of compromise.
And that is why your belief in the 12 point Agenda and vote matters.
Choose progress.
Support and vote for a builder, a problem solver and a leadership that understands how to turn vision into results.
Let us continue the work of building stronger communities, greater opportunities, and a future the next generation can believe in.
It is the young Malaysians that will inherit this country and they should lead in shaping how they wish this country will be for them and their future generations.
