Zahid refuses to accept blame or resign as Umno president for state election losses.

In the aftermath of a disappointing showing in the recent state elections, the obstinate stance taken by Umno president Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi raises questions about his suitability to lead the party's leadership.

The desperate calls for accountability and change have been met with hollow assurances and excuses, displaying a leadership that seems out of touch with reality.

Zahid's assertion that he "admits responsibility" for the party's dismal performance is a paltry acknowledgement that falls short of accepting genuine blame.

Rather than stepping down, he instead defers the responsibility onto the party's leadership, conveniently shielding himself from the repercussions of his leadership's failings. This reluctance to hold himself accountable for the electoral debacle is an affront to the very essence of leadership.

The party's supposed plan to "regain the people's confidence" and adopt new strategies is nothing more than an attempt to placate the public without addressing the root causes of the loss.

Such vague promises only reinforce the perception that Zahid is more interested in preserving his position than in rectifying the systemic issues that led to this electoral setback.

It's disheartening to see that Zahid's refusal to take decisive action is not met with a unified call for change from within Umno.

While DAP's decision to remain silent on the matter is concerning, even more disconcerting is the lack of a strong internal opposition within Umno itself.

This silence only validates Zahid's stance and perpetuates the culture of complacency that has plagued the party for years.

In contrast, Khairy Jamaluddin's perspective sheds light on the party's inertia. His disbelief that Zahid would step down in the face of poor performance reveals the pervasive acceptance of mediocrity within the party ranks.

This cynicism, epitomized by a "business as usual" approach, underscores a disregard for the electorate's demands and demonstrates a tone-deaf attitude that tarnishes Umno's image further.

In conclusion, Zahid's refusal to shoulder the blame for the state election losses is a testament to a leader more interested in preserving his own position than in the wellbeing of the party and the nation.

His inability to embrace accountability and his manipulation of responsibility reveal a leadership style that is regressive and detrimental to the party's future prospects.

The call for change, accountability, and genuine reform should not fall on deaf ears, and the party's members deserve a leader who is willing to take the helm with integrity and humility.
