Following big wins at the Golden Globes, as well as at the biggest night in British Cinema with the Baftas, Christopher Nolan’s historical epic Oppenheimer has now come out on top yet again at The Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), potentially cementing its likelihood for big wins at the 2024 Oscars next month.

Oppenheimer has now won an applaudable seven out of the 13 nominations it received at the Baftas, including, best film, director and both leading and supporting actor for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr, respectively.

To top it off the film has emerged with great love and respect from the cast and crew's peers thanks to big wins at the SAG awards. The Biopic won both the best film cast award and best male actor yet again for Cillian Murphy. Many consider this to practically guarantee success at The Academy Awards as the majority of the SAG voters are also members of the academy. With the drama up for best film, director, adapted screenplay and three of the major acting categories they are sure to be taking home some new silverware.

British filmmaker Nolan’s biopic chronicles the career of American theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, dubbed the “father of the atomic bomb”, and his role in the development of the world’s first nuclear weapons during the Second World War.

Murphy stars in the critically acclaimed movie alongside Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh. Having already won best picture at the Golden Globes and now the Baftas and SAG, Oppenheimer is the bookies’ frontrunner for an Oscars sweep.

Whether you’re yet to see Murphy’s celebrated performance as Oppenheimer or want to rewatch the historical drama ahead following the Baftas win, here’s how to steam the movie from the comfort of your living room.

What is ‘Oppenheimer’ about?

Christopher Nolan’s biopic follows the career of physicist J Robert Oppenheimer (played by Cillian Murphy), from his studies in Cambridge to teaching at Berkeley. After nuclear fission was discovered in 1938, Oppenheimer realised it could be weaponised to speed up the end of the Second World War.

After being appointed by Lt Gen Leslie Groves Jr (Matt Damon) to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project, Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spent years in the desert, developing and designing the atomic bomb.

When three years of work resulted in the world’s first nuclear explosion, Oppenheimer grapples with his role in changing history.
