So the latest cream-of-the-crop flagship from OPPO, the Find X9 Ultra, is coming to Malaysia pretty soon. Yes, it packs a crazy amount of engineering wonders, yet it is not trying to just win on specs alone, because what OPPO is really pushing this time is how the entire experience feels smarter and more personal via the latest edition of its operating system, ColorOS 16.
AI that quietly organizes your digital life
ColorOS 16 does not treat AI features like a standalone plugin; It’s the opposite – It is built upon it and revolves around it to work quietly in the background.
You start to notice it with something like AI Mind Space, where you can capture anything on your screen with a simple gesture, and it automatically organizes everything into structured, searchable memories without you needing to think about it. It’s the kind of feature that doesn’t scream for attention, but once you get used to it, it changes how you store and revisit information.
Then there’s the newly added AI Bill Manager, which is super practical for any working adult. After making a payment, you can just scan a receipt or pull up a digital invoice, and it extracts the details and logs everything neatly. It basically turns your phone into a lightweight expense tracker without needing a separate app or manual input, which is something a lot of people will appreciate in day-to-day use.
AI Mind Pilot is also pretty strong in terms of personalization, as it can pull context from your own stored data and combine it with different AI models to give more tailored answers, even letting you compare perspectives side by side.
Ordering food in a foreign land? Let the phone handle it
Outside of productivity, there are smaller but thoughtful touches that make a difference. One such new addition is the AI Menu Translation that helps you during your travels.
The way it works is super seamless – Just point your device’s camera at a menu, and it will translate, describe, and highlight dishes alongside the prices, directly converted to your local figures.
Meanwhile, AI Email Brief gives you a quick morning summary of important emails, surfacing meetings and tasks so you can act on them immediately instead of digging through your inbox.
On the system side, OPPO is also refining how the interface behaves. Live Space introduces a more flexible lock screen that lets you switch between different notification views without clutter, while O+ Connect expands file sharing to Apple devices without needing extra apps, which quietly removes one of the more annoying barriers between ecosystems.
Exquisite engineering meets the ‘Master’
Before even getting into the design, it’s worth looking at what the Find X9 Ultra is really built around – and that’s its camera system. At the core is a Hasselblad-backed 50MP 10x ultra-sensing optical zoom telephoto lens, which already pushes beyond what most flagship phones offer today. While many devices still cap out at around 4x or 5x optical zoom due to physical constraints, this setup delivers true 10x optical zoom, alongside up to 20x optical-quality zoom, effectively bridging the gap between smartphones and dedicated cameras.
To make that possible, OPPO engineered a new quintuple prism reflection periscope structure that bends light through five reflections, allowing the system to achieve that extended zoom range without making the device bulky.
This is paired with a refined optical path architecture designed to preserve image purity, along with a sensor-shift stabilization system that compensates for even the smallest movements – something that becomes critical at higher zoom levels. Altogether, it’s a setup that doesn’t just aim for longer reach, but also ensures clarity and stability are maintained throughout.
While OPPO has been partnering with Hasselblad for many years through the integration of the latter’s photographic and optical technology, they are taking it up a notch this year through identity and design.
The Find X9 Ultra features a leather-textured back, precision knurling around the camera module, and the signature orange accent that ties everything together for that premium and craftsmanship look.
The two finishes tell different stories as well. Tundra Umber goes for a more understated, earthy tone inspired by Nordic landscapes, while Canyon Orange is much bolder, drawing from the dramatic lighting and textures of Antelope Canyon. Both give the device a distinct personality, which is something you don’t always see in flagship phones that tend to play it safe.
Overall, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra, powered by ColorOS 16, is a pure statement of design and intelligence made to enhance the user’s daily life in both work and leisure, as well as continuing its pioneering step in mobile photography engineering.
