Alongside the Reno 16 Pro, Oppo also debuted the base model Reno 16. It’s pretty similar to the Pro sibling with a compact size but gets a number of downgrades to meet a lower price point.
Oppo Reno 16 Malaysia pricing and availability
The Oppo Reno 16 is already available for pre-order from the Oppo Malaysia website, their eCommerce partners as well as their retail outlets nationwide. The base model comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB, priced at RM2,699, while for RM2,999 you’ll get 12GB of RAM instead.
On top of that, if you happen to be at the Oppo Reno 16 series roadshow happening at IOI City Mall Putrajaya, you can pre-order the Reno 16 there with a RM400 rebate.
Oppo Reno 16 specs
Just like the Pro model, the Oppo Reno 16 comes with a 6.32-inch AMOLED display pushing a 2640 x 1216 resolution for a compact overall footprint. However, it gets a slightly reduced refresh rate at 120Hz, though that’s the only notable downgrade with the screen; it still has a peak brightness of 1800nits and full coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.
The first notable downgrade compared to the Pro is that the Reno 16 comes with a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 system-on-chip, a 4nm upper midrange processor, mated with up to 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage. You’ll find Android 16 out of the box, skinned with ColorOS 16 over it.
As for its cameras, the Oppo Reno 16 trades away the 200MP shooter on the Pro, with a total of four 50MP cameras instead: a main 50MP, f/1.8 shooter, a 50MP, f/2.0 ultrawide, a 50MP, f/2.8 telephoto for 3.5x optical zoom and a 50MP, f/2.0 front camera for your selfies.
Oppo have kitted out the Reno 16 with the same 6,700mAh battery, with support for 80W SuperVOOC fast charging. Other features include stereo speakers, an in-display fingerprint sensor and up to IP69K dust and water resistance ratings.
