Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is optimistic that an increasing number of Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) will throw their support behind the unity government. This inclination stems from their diminishing confidence in their respective parties, which have failed to deliver on promises of a change in government.

Anwar highlighted that these MPs were initially led to believe in the possibility of a government transition through covert maneuvers. However, this anticipated shift never materialized, and the Opposition, according to Anwar, resorted to exploiting negative sentiments, including racial issues.

Despite cautioning them about the solidity of their aspirations, Anwar noted that these MPs, having been offered hope, eventually realized the disparity between promises and reality. He emphasized that when hope erodes, MPs who were assured of transformative changes begin to part ways with their parties.

Speaking at the Perak Unity Government convention, Anwar asserted that the unity government, comprising coalitions from Sabah and Sarawak, remains stable and robust. He urged those attempting to disrupt its harmony to acknowledge that it will persist until the end of its term.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Perak Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof, and DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming were also present at the convention.

Anwar reiterated that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had recently advised political leaders to embrace unity, emphasizing the need to prioritize growth and articulate plans for the entire five-year term. He expressed confidence that the Unity Government, supported by the coalitions from Sabah and Sarawak, will endure.

Moving forward, Anwar outlined the Unity Government's commitment to driving economic growth over the next four years. He assured that the administration would uphold national principles, including safeguarding the rights of Malays and Bumiputeras. The Prime Minister concluded by expressing confidence in the King-designate's commitment to defending the stance of unity and stability in the government.
