SHAH ALAM, Oct 15 — Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (Yide) is calling upon all orphanages in Selangor to register with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and other relevant agencies.
Its chairman Tan Sri Mazlan Mansor said 31 orphanage welfare homes have already registered under Yide, ensuring more transparent and secure management.
“All orphanages must be properly supervised. I am concerned that some may not be registered at all with JKM. I strongly urge them to register as soon as possible, as I do not want any unwanted incidents to occur.
“There are 41 orphanages in Selangor, but only 31 are registered with Yide. What worries me is that if they receive donations from the public, there may be no audits,” he said.
Mazlan was speaking at the awareness programme on strengthening governance and integrity in orphanages under Yide, held in collaboration with enforcement agencies at the Raja Tun Uda Library today.
The programme, organised in cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and JKM, was also attended by the Selangor Islamic Religious Council’s chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof.
During the event, orphanage supervisors were educated on integrity and good governance to ensure that each facility complies with the highest standards and operates transparently.
Participants also signed the Anti-Corruption Pledge and took part in a corruption-free oath ceremony, symbolising efforts to prevent corrupt practices and abuse of power.
