A month following its launch in Malaysia, the new 2026 Nissan Serena e-Power has collected over 1,300 bookings with 250 units already delivered to owners. Key to the MPV’s popularity is the anti-motion-sickness engineering built into it for a smooth ride anywhere.

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) announced the strong sales momentum, putting its performance down to being Malaysia’s first MPV engineered from the ground up to address motion sickness on the road.

Jerky acceleration, diving during deceleration and braking, engine vibration and cabin sway, combine to cause motion sickness, especially for those in the rear seats.

Nissan deep-dived into the issue to gain a better understanding of its triggers, engineering countermeasures into the Serena e-Power to suppress swaying, head movement, vibrations, and sensory mismatch that are the core contributors to motion discomfort and nausea.

As the wheels are driven purely by an electric motor, passengers benefit from the smoothness of an EV as the petrol engine functions only as a generator, eliminating gear shifts, lag and diving movements that are common triggers.

Furthermore, Nissan engineers worked on improving aerodynamics as well as redesigning the suspension and steering system to minimise sway. Additionally, the large windows reduce visual imbalance, another contributor to nausea.

A Nissan signature, the Zero Gravity Seats, play a part too by keeping the body naturally supported to reduce head movement.

Inside, the quiet cabin enhances the sense of calmness.  These enhancements translate into meaningful benefits for families as children can read, nap or use devices without discomfort, elderly passengers enjoy better support, while parents enjoy a smoother, less stressful drive, especially with e‑Pedal Step; single-pedal driving reducing fatigue in traffic.

Due to its popularity, ETCM has had to ramp up production to meet the strong demand and will continue with the introductory rebate of RM5,000 and a complimentary accessories package worth RM8,000 to maintain a positive ownership experience.
