A large number of Class XII students are seeking re-evaluation of their answer sheets, pointing out discrepancies where the marks awarded by the examiners on digitally evaluated sheets do not match the total scores uploaded by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on its website.

Sources said the CBSE regional office in Ludhiana had already received over 17,000 re-evaluation applications for various subjects and streams, creating a massive backlog.

Sources said that re-evaluation process was moving at a slow pace due to acute shortage of teachers.

Educators are being instructed to report to the regional centre as and when papers corresponding to their specific subjects are ready for review. The delay has sparked widespread anxiety among both students and teachers.

Adding to the chaos, serious errors have come to fore, with students discovering that the same page of their answer sheet was uploaded twice on the portal, while in other cases, critical pages were missing.

Furthermore, students are grappling with server glitches and blurred digital copies of their answer sheets, making independent verification nearly impossible.

Sanjay Bisht, CBSE Regional Officer, Ludhiana, said he was not aware about the number of applications for re-evaluation. “We are following the guidelines, as mandated by the board,” he said. Repeated attempts to contact Niti Shankar Sharma, Deputy Secretary (Media), CBSE, for comments, did not yield any result.

Teachers are equally disgruntled, with one educator noting that they had already faced immense difficulties during the initial checking phase and were now being pressured by the board to travel to the regional office amidst soaring temperature for checking papers.

Meanwhile, a stressed student shared that she was forced to apply for re-evaluation due to clear mathematical discrepancies, where the individual marks awarded for her answers were not totalled correctly for her final score.
