According to GuangMingDAILY, there are more than 26,000 applications have been submitted for six year old children seeking early entry into Primary One for the 2027 academic year, just three days after registration opened on February 15, reflecting a strong response from parents nationwide.
According to GuangMingDAILY, Education Director General Mohamad Azman said the encouraging number shows that many parents are increasingly confident about allowing their children to begin formal education earlier than the standard entry age. According to GuangMingDAILY, speaking to Buletin TV3, he revealed that as of now, the Ministry of Education has received 165,906 applications from the seven year old group comprising children born in 2020.
In addition, 26,229 applications have been recorded for six year old children born in 2021. The figure highlights the growing awareness among parents about early childhood development and school readiness, as well as their willingness to take proactive steps in planning their children’s education pathway.
Parents who may have missed the online registration period are still given an opportunity to apply manually. Applications for six year old children can be submitted from April 1 until November 15, provided the child is deemed prepared to begin schooling. Parents may complete the process at their respective district education office, state education department or at the school of their choice.
The ministry will oversee the coordination of Primary One placements and handle appeals between September 1 and September 30 through district education offices. Appeals may be considered for reasons such as relocation, requests to place siblings in the same school or other reasonable circumstances that require special consideration.
Parents who are uncertain about whether their six year old child is ready for early admission are advised to seek guidance from school administrators or education officers before making a final decision. Registration for the 2027 Primary One intake will close on March 31, and applications must be submitted through the Ministry of Education’s online system.
