Khairul Aming’s Rembayung sparks a job rush as 3,000 Malaysians apply, with netizens sharing funny reactions online.

KHAIRUL Aming, the popular entrepreneur and influencer behind Sambal Nyet, only wanted to open a restaurant — but Malaysians turned it into a nationwide job frenzy.

On December 9, Khairul Aming surprised Malaysians with the announcement of his first restaurant, Rembayung — a kampung-inspired dining spot in Kuala Lumpur, built from scratch with a RM4 million investment and set to open in January 2026.

The news quickly went viral with thousands reacting online about the new restaurant.

Within a single day, over 3,000 résumés flooded his inbox for positions at his soon-to-launch eatery.

“More than 3,000 résumés have been coming in non-stop since yesterday for Rembayung.

“I’m touched to see so many people wanting to apply for a job. But I’m really sorry because we don’t have any vacancies at the moment.

“Yesterday we had five openings, but all of them have already been shortlisted,” he wrote in a Threads post.

And as expected, the comment section became pure Malaysian comedy gold.

“For that big ceiling fan, has someone been hired to clean it?” one user called didi_anna87 asked jokingly.

“I’m fine even if I have to work as a valet parking attendant for KA’s Bezza,” asri_sobri countered.

“Who wouldn’t want a good employer?” atyra_nan wrote.
