SHAH ALAM, Sept 21 — Over 400 micro, small, and medium-sized entrepreneurs (MSME) in Selangor have participated in an e-commerce seminar organised by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec) from January until today.

State executive councillor for entrepreneurship Najwan Halimi said the jointly organised programme with App Engage Sdn Bhd gave participants exposure to market their sales more efficiently via digitalisation methods, using the Sprii Commerce system.

“This system can help entrepreneurs manage inventory more efficiently through digital means while reducing labour costs.

“Sales and marketing activities also become more systematic through this platform,” he said after inaugurating the Memperkasa Usahawan Muda Melalui e-Dagang programme at Sidec’s headquarters in i-City earlier today.

Similarly, Najwan suggested young entrepreneurs should not rely solely on conventional concepts but also explore the creative economy, even if they only do business online.

“We are looking to convince 1,000 entrepreneurs to participate in this e-commerce seminar, to hone their skills and transition to the creative economy instead of solely relying on conventional concepts.

“Compared to the past, where traders needed (brick-and-mortar) premises to do business, now they can do so solely online but must continuously acquire knowledge in line with today’s digital challenges,” he said.

During the event, over 100 MSMEs participated in the seminar, which took place from 8.30 am to 2.30pm.
