KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission (EC) recorded a 92.5 per cent turnout for early voting in the 17th Sabah Election on Tuesday, involving military and police personnel and their spouses, said EC secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus.

He said 58 early voting centres opened at 8am and closed at 5pm across the State, with 17,615 of the 19,043 eligible early voters casting their ballots.

Khairul Shahril said the EC thanked all election officers for carrying out their responsibilities smoothly throughout the day.

He also expressed appreciation to the State Secretary’s Office, the Sabah Federal Secretary’s Office, the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, media personnel and all agencies that provided support.

He said the EC welcomed the cooperation shown by all parties in ensuring early voting was conducted in an orderly and efficient manner.
