Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki has revealed that civil servants who report corruption cases until conviction in court will be given monetary rewards.
The MACC Chief was quoted by Berita Harian as saying that the monetary reward would be the same amount as the bribe offer in the case, as by reporting them, the civil servants are helping the Government fight corruption.

Azam further asserted that through the existing policy, a total of 514 civil servants have been rewarded over RM1 million between 2012 and 2023 for reporting corruption cases that lead to convictions.
The MACC Chief asserted,
“It’s Ringgit for Ringgit, if you’re offered RM100, the Government will give you RM100. If you’re offered RM1 million, the government will reward you RM1 million,”

Besides that, Azam also lauded the policy to be expanded to the public under the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024-2028 announced last month, whereby members of the public may also be given monetary rewards for reporting on corruption.
However, this plan is only at its proposal stage as of now. Furthermore, the matter must go through specific and optimum procedures with the relevant agencies.
Azam’s statement follows the Government’s stance against corruption in the civil service and at large. Previously, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim asserted that department heads at Government offices won’t receive a promotion if they “turn a blind eye to corruption”.
