The Ludhiana Commissionerate Police claimed to have recovered over Rs 1.7 crore from two immigration agents who were booked by the Model Town police on September 4, 2024.
The suspects were identified as Amit Malhotra and Veenu Malhotra of Ludhiana. The local court had directed to return the recovered money to their lawful owners.
CP Swapan Sharma said of Rs 1,07,86,594, Rs 70,77,910 was distributed among 11 claimants who visited the office of the SDM (E) and the remaining amount would be given to six other claimants.
ACP Sarabjit Singh was present on behalf of the local police.
