Traders are facing inconvenience due to overflowing sewage and cow dung at Mal Godam Road, which has made movement difficult and is reportedly affecting their business.
Rohtak Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Batra, who visited the area on Monday, has issued an ultimatum to the district administration to resolve the issue.
“If the administration fails to act within a week, we will be forced to sit on a dharna,” he said.
The traders showed him cow dung accumulated on either side of the road, while wastewater mixed with dung flowed through the middle of the busy stretch. They complained that the stench, slippery roads and frequent traffic disruptions had made movement difficult for customers and residents.
“After talking to them, I spoke to the DC and the MC Commissioner over the phone and sought prompt action. I have asked them to formulate a permanent solution and ensure visible results within a week,” said Batra.
The administration must hold discussions with dairy owners to dispose of cow dung effectively, he said. “No one should be allowed to create inconvenience for others. The dumping of dung in sewers must stop immediately,” he added.
The MLA said the condition of Mal Godam Road and the adjoining Shori Cloth Market had deteriorated because of the daily dumping of dung on roads. He told officials that photographs and videos of the affected areas were being shared with them, and warned that if the issue remained unresolved, he, along with the traders, would hold a protest.
“The district officers have assured me that the issue will be resolved,” he added.
