BUTTERWORTH – Road users have been stuck in a traffic crawl for at least five hours here after an accident took place between the Sg Dua toll plaza and Bertam in Kepala Batas.
The congestion along the northbound lane at KM121.2 of the North-South Expressway saw hundreds of vehicles left stranded for hours as highway concessionaire PLUS Expressways Bhd worked to clear the debris.
A trailer laden with sand had overturned around 5am but due to low visibility, five vehicles trailing it rammed into its side.
A PLUS spokesman confirmed the incident, saying that its team is liaising with police to check the extent of the drivers’ injuries.
“We are now diverting traffic to the south lane to ease congestion on the northbound lane. This will take time and we apologise for the inconvenience caused.” – The Vibes, June 23, 2022
