THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) said 8.91 kilograms of kush with an estimated value of P13.3 million were confiscated from a passenger who arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Thursday.
The illegal drugs, concealed in the passenger’s luggage, were discovered during routine X-ray scanning, and later confirmed by a K9 unit of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The BOC said the seized items have been turned over to the appropriate authorities for further examination.
In a related development, the PNP Aviation Security Group seized an abandoned inbound parcel containing suspected illegal drugs during a drug interdiction operation at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City on June 3.
The parcel, originating from Spain and addressed to a recipient in Manila, contained approximately 201 tablets of suspected Ecstasy, with an estimated value of P341,700.
Authorities said the tablets were concealed among colored Lego bricks inside a sealed plastic bag.
