AUTHORITIES intercepted 20 abandoned inbound parcels containing Kush marijuana at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City on Tuesday, according to the Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup).

Valued at over P8.9 million, the illegal shipment was discovered on Feb. 2, 2026, and was intended for recipients in the country.

The Bureau of Customs' (BOC) routine inspection of international parcels led to the interception of the contraband.

The operation was the result of close coordination between airport authorities, including the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Force and Avsegroup intelligence personnel.

BOC-NAIA, led by District Collector Yasmin Mapa, stated that X-ray screening and manual examination yielded 5,940 grams of dried leaves suspected to be Kush.

The seized drugs were found in canisters or cylindrical food containers.

Authorities said that the parcels were consigned to recipients in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao — specifically in Biñan, Laguna, Cebu, and Davao — and were traced back to shippers in the United States and Thailand.

The Avsegroup said that the illegal drugs have been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

"This operation demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-driven interdiction and close interagency cooperation. The PNP Avsegroup, along with other airport authorities, will continue to strengthen airport and mail facility security to prevent illegal drugs from entering the country and safeguard the traveling public," Avsegroup Director BGen. Dionisio Bartolome Jr. said.
