THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said more than P98 million in fuel subsidies has been distributed to taxi operators and drivers to cushion the impact of the Middle East conflict on fuel prices.
LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said the agency is accelerating aid rollout to other public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers.
“Our coordination with transport service entities, including taxi operators, remains continuous. We are closely monitoring the distribution to allow real-time intervention in case of glitches and other concerns,” Mendoza said.
The LTFRB said the bulk of the funds has been distributed through its central office in Quezon City, with additional disbursements recorded in the Davao Region, Central Visayas, and Western Visayas.
Mendoza said regional directors, particularly in highly urbanized areas, have been directed to coordinate directly with transport service entities to speed up the distribution process.
“The funds are available, and our goal is to release them as quickly as possible so all beneficiaries can receive assistance at the soonest time,” he said.
The agency said it is due to implement another round of payouts on Friday, April 24, and Saturday, April 25, at the LTFRB and Land Transportation Office central offices in Quezon City.
Mendoza said that due to logistical challenges, the agency is intensifying coordination with stakeholders to ensure faster delivery of assistance.
He encouraged beneficiaries experiencing difficulties in claiming their subsidies to reach out through LTFRB hotlines and official social media channels. Franco Jose Baroña
