Dalian Yifang attacker Yannick Carrasco admits he wanted to return to Europe this summer.
The Belgium international was linked with Arsenal and Everton among several European clubs, but he ultimately remained in China.
"I have nothing against the Chinese championship. I wanted to return near my family and return to the great European competitions," said the former Atletico Madrid star.
"Some clubs were interested, we talked, but it was difficult to leave China.
"The president (of the club) did not agree to let me go. They needed me, I am their most important player in the team."
