Package 10 of Pan Borneo to be ready early 2024

Kota Kinabalu: Package 10 of the Pan Borneo Highway project involving the Pituru to Rampaian Laut route is expected to be fully completed in the first quarter of next year.

Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Shahelmey Yahya said the work package was progessing well, based on his site visit on Monday.

The implementation of package 10 worth RM400 million is among 15 work packages of the Pan Borneo Highway Phase One being implemented in Sabah.

The first phase involves 35 packages. However, 20 packages have been delayed and are still in the process of waiting for approval for implementation purposes.

Read more Shahelmey, who is also State Works Minister, also visited the rural road upgrading project in Jalan Dudar, Taburon Mendawang, which started in April last year.

“The project costing RM89 million is progressing well and hopefully it can be completed according to the set schedule, that is in the middle of 2025,” he said.

Shahelmey also assured that the water problems in Kampung Labuan Sempadan and Kampung Kota Peladok will be resolved in the near future.

He said a survey conducted with the State Water Department Director in the two villages enabled them to understand the real issue that resulted in the residents not receiving water supply through the Water Department pipes.

Shahelmey said the stabilisation of the distribution is one of the temporary measures while awaiting the decision on the long-term water supply plan in the west coast of Sabah through the construction of the proposed Papar Dam or Ulu Padas Dam.
