THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is set to charge Padang Serai Member of Parliament Datuk Azman Nasrudin today at the Shah Alam Court over an alleged bribery scheme tied to a Kedah state cattle-breeding joint venture.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said Azman would be prosecuted under Section 28(1)(c) of the MACC Act 2009 with one count of abetting in the receipt of a bribe.

Alongside the MP, a businessman is also scheduled to be charged under Section 16(a)(A) of the same Act on two counts—requesting and receiving bribes.

“A Member of Parliament and a businessman suspected of corruption in relation to a cattle-farming joint venture owned by the Kedah state government will be charged on Monday (today).

“MACC has obtained consent to prosecute both suspects and the charges will be brought at the Shah Alam Court,” Azam said in a statement issued on Saturday.

Earlier reports stated that MACC Kedah had detained Azman for the purpose of prosecution after the agency received authorisation to proceed with a case involving the state’s cattle-farming partnership.

According to sources, investigators have been examining allegations dating back to February that approximately RM400,000 was received in exchange for assistance in securing land-use rights for the fidlot project.

“The investigation paper was opened following a complaint received on 10 February and, during the course of the investigation, statements were recorded from 15 witnesses,” the source said. - December 8, 2025
