JPJ Pahang’s Foreign Driver Operation (PeWA) nets 1,447 summonses and 197 seized vehicles for offences including unlicensed driving and expired LKM.
KUANTAN: The Pahang Road Transport Department (JPJ) issued 1,447 summonses for various offences and seized 197 vehicles during the Foreign Driver (PeWA) Operation, which was conducted from June 16 to Aug 31.
In a statement, JPJ said the main offences detected during the operation included driving without a licence, expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM), lack of insurance coverage and technical violations.
“Vehicles seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 will be released after the cases are settled in court and the fines imposed have been paid,” it said.
JPJ said it would continue to intensify targeted, firm and sustained enforcement, particularly against offences that could increase the risk of accidents and endanger road users.
It also stressed that enforcement would be carried out without compromise against anyone found to have violated the law.
